International Contest & Convention (IC&C) 2008
November 12-16 Appleton, Wisconsin

OCTOBER 20, 2008
To all competing Quartets and Choruses:

We are getting closer to ICC in Appleton, and I wish everyone a safe journey to meet in November from the 12th to the 16th. Please make sure that your passports are up to date, and/or make sure that you have proper ID to cross into the USA.

There are a couple of housekeeping items that need to be addressed:

  • Contestant briefing for all quartets, Chorus Directors or delegates is at 5:00pm on Thursday, November 13th.
  • Quartet Stage Viewing is on Thursday, November 13 from 5:30pm to 6:00 pm. Quartets may ONLY attend one viewing.
  • Chorus Stage Viewing is on Thursday, November 13 from 10:30pm to 11:00pm. Choruses you may have a maximum of 6 members at the viewing.
  • This is a wonderful professional stage we will be using. The curtain moves up and down, with a distance of 6 feet 6 inches from the curtain to the edge of the stage.
  • The Fox Centre is less than a five minute walk from the Radisson, so coats may be needed. Wouldn't it be nice if Fall just continued as it is right now.
  • Remember to keep valuables locked away in your bedroom/safe and carry only what is required to get you to and from the contests.

If anyone has any questions about the contests, please do not hesitate to contact myself, Jacquie Jensen the ICJ, or Dianne Clark the Convention Coordinator

See you all in Appleton, Wisconsin

CRAFT CLASSES

HOTEL RESERVATIONS (accepted starting July 15, 2008)

IMPORTANT:  The Chicago Bears will be in town to play the Greenbay Packers the same weekend we are in Appleton. It is anticipated that extra hotel rooms in the city will be booked by fans and media. Available hotel rooms will be at a rate that far exceeds what we are paying as convention attendees. Based on our history we have booked enough hotel rooms to accommodate all HI members who will be attending our Convention.

As you prepare to make your individual and chapter reservations at the Radisson and Copper Leaf hotels, we have established some guidelines that we feel will be reasonable for everyone.

  • Our hotels will begin accepting reservations at 9:00AM Central time on Tuesday, July 15
  • We ask that you be fair in booking rooms. That is, only book the number of rooms you require.
  • As mentioned before, if you are staying two to a room we ask that you consider booking a King room so that the double/doubles can be used by those who are have three or four in their room.
  • If you book rooms for your chorus under one name, individual names and credit card numbers will be required for each room by Monday, September 15. This information can be faxed to the hotels.
  • There will be a 30 day cancellation policy applied to our rooms. That is, any rooms you will not be using must be cancelled by Monday October 13. This is so that there will be an opportunity to reassign the room to a Harmony, Inc. member and so that HI will not incur a penalty for rooms booked but not used. The penalty for cancelling after October 13 is one night room plus tax.

NOTE: Final hotel arrangements at the Radisson Hotel must be made by October 15, 2008. If you are holding on to rooms at the Radisson in anticipation of having more members or friends needing a room you need to make your final decisions now. Any rooms cancelled after October 15 will be assessed a one night room charge including all taxes.

Room rates are $95 single/double
There is an additional $10 charge per person per night for those wishing to have three or four in the room. There are a limited number of rooms on the Concierge level. Those rates are $115 single; $125 double. We encourage those who are staying two to a room to select the King rooms.
