This year’s event is full of exciting sessions that promise to be entertaining and engaging as we welcome a wide variety of singing stars to our virtual stage!

Opening Ceremony
We’re kicking off this year’s event with a night full of super stars!  Join Harmony, Inc’s International President, Linda Brehaut as she honors all of the shining stars in our organization. Deke Sharon, singer, director, composer, arranger and producer of NBC’s “The Sing Off” and “Pitch Perfect” 1, 2 & 3 will provide the keynote address and our International Harmony Queens, Hot Pursuit will entertain us!

Kitchen Party
Area 1 invites you to join them at their Kitchen Party Thursday night after the Opening Ceremony. A Kitchen Party is one of the many traditions from Canada’s East Coast, bringing together friends and neighbours to share stories and songs. Grab your favorite snack and drink and join in this celebration of life and friendship!

All Star Coaching with Deke Sharon
Known as the “father of contemporary a cappella,” Deke Sharon has been performing professionally since the age of 8, and as a child toured North America and shared the stage in operas with the likes of Pavarotti. He is responsible for the current sound of modern a cappella, having pioneered the modern vocal-instrumental sound in college, subsequently spreading it around the world. He will be coaching us on a new common song. The music will be sent out prior to the event and we plan on singing it together in person at next year’s IC&C so you don’t want to miss out!

AHQ Show
What’s a convention without the AHQ show? Join your hosts Livewire quartet as they share some of your favorite quartet performances – live and pre-recorded, an interactive game show honoring anniversary Queen Quartets, and a Virtual AHQ Chorus performance.

Tag Room
Join some of our top quartets Friday night after the AHQ show to learn and sing tags!  The music will be shared prior to the event.

Coffee Talks
Join one of these three discussion groups that will run concurrently on Saturday morning;

Membership Retention: As chapters transition back to in-person rehearsals they are also tackling new challenges when considering how to engage their current members and bring in new singers.  Join Anne Bureau and Jennifer Cooke in discussing a plethora of options and innovations in membership growth and retention as we re-imagine what “membership” means for your chorus.

Judging Under Glass: You’ve seen rankings on paper and heard about your contest songs in your own evaluations, but have you ever wondered why judges put down the number they do in general?  What did they see and/or hear that made them award bonus points or perhaps take away from their enjoyment?  Join a “panel” of judges to watch 3 or 4 videos, followed by a brief explanation from them of why they scored a performance the way they did.

Barbershop Around The World:  Have you ever wondered how far afield this wild and wonderful hobby can be found? Barbershop can be heard almost anywhere! From countries with just one or two quartets ringing chords, to those with masses of ensembles coming together to compete and take part in educational activities on a regular basis. What do these organizations share with Harmony, Inc. and our North American peers? How are they unique? Can we connect with these groups when we find ourselves visiting these areas?  Fill up your morning cup and join in the discussion as we hear about Barbershop Around the World.

Showcase of Stars
You’ll get a front row seat to Harmony’s Showcase of Stars! Watch our chorus and quartets as they share some of their favorite performances and videos. Check out the submissions page of this website for more information on how to submit your videos.

Shoot for the Stars: Coaching Under Glass
Have you ever wondered what a quartet coaching session was like?  Or how our quartets continued to stay on top of their game during the quarantine?  Cy Wood, a musical theater teacher who spent many years in NYC working as a professional actor, producer, special events coordinator, and creative director, is going to coach quartet Take 4 and you can listen in to learn how to break through the glass ceiling and see firsthand how virtual coaching works!

Harmony Under the Stars Afterglow
Join us Under the Stars as we close out our 2021 virtual convention.  This fun-filled evening will include our Talent Show finals, Minor Chords and International Chorus virtual videos, an introduction to our outlying chorus chapters and more!  It’s sure to be a night full of laughs and surprises!

Search for the Stars Talent Show
Do you play the harmonica? Can you spin plates?  Now is your chance to showcase your talents (besides a cappella singing) in Harmony’s very own talent show!  Send us your video submission (max 1.5 mins) and we’ll have our membership vote for their favorite.  The ten acts with the most votes will move on to the live finals round on Saturday night.  A HI Judges panel and the audience will determine the winner. Check out the submissions page of this website for more information on how to enter.

Brightest Star Trivia Challenge
Are you good at Jeopardy? Can you recognize a tune in just three notes? Then you don’t want to miss out on our trivia challenge where you’ll go head-to-head with your peers to vie for the title of Harmony’s Brightest Star by answering harmony related trivia questions! There are three quiz categories that will be played during the pre-shows on Saturday – so the more sessions you attend – the more opportunities you have to play and win!
